Australia isn’t short of takes about our declining social cohesion. But is anyone thinking outside the box on how we should address it?

In this video, we explore whether a modern Australian version of national service could do what another awareness campaign cannot: put young Australians from different postcodes, cultures and classes in the same crew, doing work the country actually needs.

This initiative would be designed to build competence, trust and a bigger sense of who counts as Australians, and build connections and empathy for one another and the country at large.
